Created a Digital Storytelling project was very fun, and right up my alley! I have used iMovie and other similar programs many times in the past, so I was understandably rather excited when I got to do this one. The digital story is, in essence, an enhanced slideshow; it incorporates photos, music and/or narration, captions and/or subtitles, and other techniques used to not only make the video more enjoyable to watch and listen to, but also to make it an effective learning tool. This digital story is a description of my spring break trip to New York City, but a digital story can be about virtually any subject. It can be a very effective tool in the classroom, in more ways than one; first, it would be an easy and entertaining way for a teacher to communicate information to their students in a format that would grab and hold their attention. As well, it could be a very fun project for students who are old enough to understand the different programs that can be used to create such an artifact, as they could use it to present information on a trip they went on, a topic that they have done further research on, etc. Though it may be slightly advanced for middle-schoolers to use (or perhaps I am underestimating them!), it seems to me that it would be an excellent, fun, interactive and hands-on project for high school students to complete.
